As we enter this season of gratitude, The Oxford Club is stepping up to support those who find themselves in fragile circumstances. Our focus is on lending a hand where we believe it is most crucial, contributing to causes we deeply care about.
Sometimes the charities we support are right in our neighborhood, while at other times they are halfway across the world. Unfortunately, there’s never a shortage of places and people in desperate need of help. Offering support is not only personally rewarding; it’s beneficial for businesses too, especially since it can lead to a nice tax break!
However, it’s important to us—and likely to you too—that our contributions are directed towards programs that are genuinely effective, truly reaching those we aim to support.
So, if you’re looking for a meaningful way to make a difference, let me introduce you to the dedicated and professional team at The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic.
Tucked away in a rural part of Nicaragua, which is the second-poorest nation in the Americas, this small but mighty nonprofit health center is making a major impact. Founded in 2004 by The Oxford Club’s former CEO, Julia Guth, I’ve had the privilege to visit the clinic myself and witness the immense value it provides to the community firsthand.
If this team of passionate 26 doctors, nurses, and supporting staff didn’t exist, countless individuals would be without access to medication, clean water, or nutritious food.
Operating round the clock, the Clinic boasts the only off-road ambulance in the area, offering critical care and transferring patients to hospitals when needed. Their outreach initiatives bring much-needed medicines and health check-ups to isolated villages down roads often flooded by water. They even teach families how to cultivate their own organic gardens.
And remarkably, they achieve all this on a shoestring budget.
Relying mainly on personal donations rather than large grants, every dollar contributed here makes an enormous difference. Plus, as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your donations are tax-deductible.
Julia Guth recently crafted a white paper that breaks down the finer points of charitable giving. Titled “Top 10 Charitable Giving Strategies for Modern Times,” it’s available to all our readers—you can access it HERE.
The Clinic operates with a high level of integrity and skill, led by a team of seasoned professionals whom you can learn about more in detail.
At present, the communities serviced by the Clinic are grappling with severe flooding issues.
Access to education, healthcare, and even clean water is crippled for days or even weeks, compounding the hardship for families. Furthermore, flimsy homes in the remote areas stand the risk of being destroyed by water.
Now, more than ever, the Clinic needs our support.
I urge you to think about the wonderful services the Clinic brings to its community and consider lending a hand.
Every little bit counts.
After all, health is the ultimate treasure, and with your help, the friendly people of Nicaragua can lead a healthier, happier life.
