To the Editor:
Peachy Keenan, writing under a pseudonym, paints a rather imaginative picture where if conservatives like herself had been steering the course for California over the last fifty years, things would be drastically different.
According to her, they would have somehow altered the laws of physics, ensuring every fire hydrant was always bursting with water, regardless of circumstances. They’d have found a way to end long stretches of drought, eliminating the parched conditions that are so risky. And magically, they would have tamed the fierce, dry Santa Ana winds that make fires spread so quickly.
And yet, poor Keenan can’t fathom why those aligned with MAGA aren’t garnering more respect.

To the Editor:
Anyone willing to wager on whether those in charge will actually hold accountable the people who failed to adequately prepare for fires sparked by the inevitable Santa Ana winds? I’m willing to bet not a single person will lose their job.
By the way, Keenan’s article was excellent.

To the Editor:
As a committed reader of the Times since 1973, I was disheartened by Keenan’s article. It seemed better suited for a platform like “Moms For Liberty” rather than gracing the pages of the L.A. Times.
After 52 years as a reader, I hoped for more. Thanks for considering my perspective.
