In a recent incident, a Delta flight faced an unexpected hiccup shortly after leaving Boston Logan International Airport. The crew was alerted to a peculiar “smoky odor” wafting through the cabin, prompting an immediate return to the airport, according to Delta.
The Sunday morning flight ended safely for all 92 passengers aboard, who thankfully reported no injuries. Flight 1398, an Airbus A220, was originally bound for Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. However, the quick decision to turn around came after crew members noticed fumes spreading through the flight deck and cabin, as detailed by the Federal Aviation Administration.
To make sure the plane got back promptly, Delta declared an emergency, which allowed them to secure priority landing from air traffic control. The plane touched down back in Boston around 9:35 a.m.
In the aftermath, Delta assured passengers that efforts are underway to ensure they continue their journey with minimal delay. Meanwhile, the FAA has launched an investigation to dig deeper into the cause of the event.
