To the editor:
Highlighting the rising cost of eggs isn’t enough of a rebuttal to current political issues (“Why should America worry about Trump? Try the price of eggs, some Democrats say,” March 3). Nor is merely criticizing President Trump for his deceit, harshness, or his tendency to appoint individuals to key positions purely based on their loyalty instead of their competence.
Democrats need to concentrate on two fundamental areas: the economy and national security—both of which have been jeopardized by this administration. The erratic back-and-forth on tariffs—first imposing them, then retracting, only to reimpose—has led to economic instability and deterred both domestic and international investors.
Trump’s reckless remarks directed at our politicians and international allies don’t project strength. Instead, they paint us as inexperienced, isolated, and at risk.

We’re witnessing spike in egg prices, the stock market taking a dive, and our standing in the global arena is wavering. Moreover, our voting alignment in the United Nations alongside North Korea and Russia is troubling. Values like empathy, integrity, and character seem to have lost their importance. Someone please wake me; this feels like a terrible nightmare.
