Aura Funerals, a company that specializes in digital end-of-life planning and funeral services, recently celebrated a successful fundraising achievement. They secured £750,000 through Angel Investment Network, marking their third successful fundraising effort with this network. This sum contributed to a larger growth funding round totaling £3.2 million.
Since its inception in 2019, Aura Funerals has been revolutionizing the funeral services industry by streamlining and digitalizing the planning processes. This approach makes the arrangements more cost-effective and adaptable. Their focus is on providing compassionate support and offering comprehensive planning resources, which greatly assist families during difficult periods. Notably, amidst changes in the market, Aura is now one of the fewer than 30 funeral providers regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
The recent influx of funding will be directed toward several pivotal projects, including the development of digital pre-planning technology, the promotion of eco-friendly funerals, and the integration of artificial intelligence into their operations. Additionally, they plan to continue the expansion of their end-of-life hub and media presence. This strategy aims to reduce acquisition costs and enhance brand recognition in the broader market.
Ben May, Aura Funerals’ chief operating officer, expressed his thoughts on the investment, stating: “The ongoing support from AIN is a testament to their belief in our mission to modernize funeral care with both empathy and technology. We’ve been leading the charge in innovation within this space, allowing people to personalize farewells either online or over the phone, which reduces costs and alleviates emotional and administrative burdens. This new funding is crucial for extending our services and reinforcing our dedication to providing innovative and sustainable end-of-life solutions.”
Matthew Louis, a senior broker from the Angel Investment Network, also shared his perspective: “Aura ensures that each farewell is heartfelt and respectful, emphasizing compassion and simplicity. Angel Investors have fully supported their ambition to innovate within an outdated and often perplexing market by adopting a humane approach for those in need. Aura is well-positioned with great partners for its next phase.”
