Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer from New York expressed admiration, saying, “President Carter’s faith in Americans and his commitment to kindness and humility leaves a lasting legacy. He taught us that real leadership lies in action and selflessness, rather than in mere words or personal gain.”
Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell, the outgoing Senate Minority Leader from Kentucky, reflected on Carter’s steadfast character, likening it to the robust American soil. “After serving far away, Carter always returned home, ready to use his experiences and influence to uplift others and enrich the community.”

Senator Mike Lee from Utah celebrated Carter’s post-presidential achievements, emphasizing his humanitarian efforts and devotion to his Christian faith. Up until the pandemic, Carter taught Sunday school in Plains, Georgia.
